Ana Ibis Despaigne Diaz PhD

Bio

Ana Ibis Despaigne Diaz has vast experience in geology. She was 10 years as a field/project geologist for a Geology and Mining Enterprise, Central Cuba, 11 years as a Lecturer in Mineralogy, Crystallography, and Optical Mineralogy at the University of Pinar del Rio, Cuba. Ana was 1 year as a Research
Associate at Curtin University, Western Australia, and 2 years as a lecturer in Geosciences, Structural Geology and Tectonics, and Microtectonics at Los Andes University in Bogota, Colombia.

Employment

Dr Despaigne Diaz has worked mainly in metamorphic terranes and to a lesser extent in sedimentary and igneous rocks.

 

Her working experience includes studies in accreted terrains, extensional and contractional tectonic settings, strike slip systems , folded and polydeformed terrains in several countries including Cuba, Spain, Australia, and Colombia. She is an active tutor of student theses and Research groups.

 

Ana is a member of the regional Project “Subduction zones of the Caribbean”, the Australian Institute of Geoscientists (AIG), Geochemical Society, Geological Society of America (GSA) and the Cuban Geological Society.
